I wish I lived in an area where farmer's market stands popped up on the road this time of year. But I don't, so I settle for the local farmers market store instead. I know its probably semi-synthetic, considering they are open year round and have most fruits and veggies year round as well, but I still enjoy going there once a week to see what new special produce they carry for the season. Something about going in there energizes me year round. Berries in spring, watermelon in summer, pumpkins in the fall and winter squash in the winter. I often over indulge, and am not able to use what I buy before it spoils. I am trying to get better at not wasting mother Earth's gifts, but it all looks so tasty, I get carried away! This week I purchased strawberries and bananas. The strawberries I promptly turned into strawberry short cake! YUM! And the bananas.... started to spoil. As disappointed as I was, I quickly remembered how my mom used to turn mushy bananas into homemade banana bread. HOOORAY! The bananas were saved and turned into something tasty! :) Today husband and I worked in our backyard pretty much all day after our routine sunday morning grocery shopping. Living in the south, sunday mornings around 9am equals church time for about 95% of the population... and this is exactly why we chose to do our shopping on this morning. The stores are almost completely empty! :) After shopping and a pregnant lady nap, which husband joined in on, we went back to work in the backyard. While he worked to re-sod the entire area, I worked planting flower and pumpkins in my little garden. I did this a little late in the season, I know. But last year I didn't plant my pumpkins until late july and I still got some little tiny pumpkins! I am hoping to have some a little bigger this year. We can't keep much alive here, in the texas summer heat, but we will see what happens.
We also celebrated the weekend with a date night on friday which ended at half price books. I got a great little pagan book that introduced me to some new ideas I hadn't heard of before. I will have to post more about this later. I can't even remember the title of the book right now, and if I get up and waddle to the other side of the house to retrieve it, I'm sure I'd lay down and go to sleep and never finish this blog post.
Our sweet baby girl is due in about 3 months. I am getting very excited but super nervous. I start my two week visits rather than 4 weeks, starting this week which begins my third trimester. Baby's room is almost complete, and I have one shower this week at work. I have another shower in may and my last one in june. Baby is already so loved by many people and I am so lucky that husband and I have been blessed to be her parents. I can't wait to meet her. She is now starting to roll across my tummy like a little alien, rather than just punching and kicking me! Its really sci-fi but a miracle at the same time. Its so weird to think there is a little human in there.
Last but not least, I am ringing in Beltane with making a strawberry pie on tuesday evening. My may day party may take place this year, but a little late in the season because of the hectic "end of year" requirements at work. I figure better late than never though!
I hope this post finds you well! I again read your post faithfully, even though I rarely update myself! Summer break will send me returning to blogger soon though! :)
take care!

I really miss farmer's markets and farm stands, and the like. They have them here. We just have to get off our butts and find them. ;)
The alien baby movements are so funny. I remember those from 10 years ago. LOL It's such an exiting time!
