I'm just another twenty something, newly married, fashion loving, working gal trying to cook up a bit of magick in the kitchen and in life!

traditions and magick

Even the smallest of family traditions seem precious to me. There is just something special about doing things the way my mom did things. I love the sentimental feeling of saying "when I was little" or "My Mom used to..". It makes me feel connected to her, my family and my childhood even in my adult years.

So the other day we went shopping and I mentioned to her...

"You know 'our' big giant Tupperware bowl? The one you always make potato salad in, that we've had since 'we' were little? I need one of those. I made pasta salad and have nothing to save it in". As I said this little memories of waterpark trips, BBQs and long lazy summer days, washed over me. We used that bowl for everything growing up... I think it was even the barf bucket once or twice. That bowl has been through everything and my mom still uses to it this day.

We went about our business looking in the homegoods section, and to my disappointment, no big Tupperware bowl. I found a square small one, but it wasn't big and round like the one I grew up with.  Mother assured me I could find one elsewhere.

Three days later Mom presented me with a huge Tupperware bowl, she'd found on amazon. Just like the one I grew up with. Same colors and everything.

I'm making Mom's potato salad this weekend... and how magickal it feels.

love and light
